Easy Pickings

Every fall during the salmon run and before the long winters hibernation, the grizzly bear would spend time at mountain streams and rivers "fishing".

Because of the abundance of the fish and the quickness of the grizzly, it would not take him long each day to get his fill. Along with berries, nuts, grubs, small animals and the flesh of dead animals, the salmon run became an important part of the diet for Old Grizz as he prepared for his winters rest.
